Five-Point Programmatic Thrust
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded on three basic principles: scholarship, public service, and sisterhood. These ideals have withstood the test of time and are exemplified through the many programs we sponsor. Each collegiate and alumnae chapter develops programs in reference to the needs of their communities. These public service programs are centered around Delta's Five Point Programmatic Thrust: Economic Development | Educational Development | Physical and Mental Health | Political Awareness and Involvement | International Awareness and Involvement.
Economic Development
DCP’s Economic Development Program follows our national initiative by sponsoring programs, seminars, and workshops on procurement and entrepreneurship. An important component is the emphasis on personal financial planning and access management.

Physical & Mental Health
The work of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in prevention and wellness translates into health education programs, health fairs, and the provision of healthcare services for those in need. It also supports medical research that examines illnesses that specifically impact segments of the nation’s population, particularly African Americans. Tomika Jones - Chair Health@dcpdst.org |
Political Awareness & Involvement
Our Founders’ participation in the Suffrage March for Women to Vote in March, 1913 was our organization’s first act of political awareness and involvement. Through social action our members positively impact the communities in which we serve. Public policy awareness in our communities continues to guide the activities of this program. International Awareness & Involvement
Through international awareness & involvement projects, members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. have been able to broaden their knowledge and understanding of nations other than their own, increase interest in international affairs, and aid in developing a greater appreciation for people of different backgrounds and cultures.
